Welcome to Gondhali Samaj:

A Class of Marathi musicians and dancers, to be found in all the Districts of the Marathawada, but especially in the District of LJsmanabad. They take their name from their professional dance, gondhal, the word being probably derived from the tumultuous row (Marathi equivalent — gondhal) which the Gondhalis raiijp while performing the dance. Their traditions say that they were descended from the sage Jamdagni and his wife Renuka. According to another account, they are identical with the Maitriyas of olden times, who were regarded as the progeny of a Vaidehika father and an Ayogava mother

History of Gondhali Samaj:

In Gondhali's: Career Heritage and Conversion:
Gondhali's are neglected nomads. Those who have become professionals in the Devi shrine, surrounded by Kolhapur and Tuljapur in southern Maharashtra, then to the present-day Maharashtra, are now Gondhali's. The satisfaction and intuition of her goddess was a stomach-like lifestyle that was intended to be behind this cult. The word 'Gondhali' in the word "gondhal" means 'confusion'. Kittel describes the word "gondhal" as "a man who makes music in parvati and sings her stories, a festive festival in propitiation of devi."
